Forum Title: Replacing very old garage side door
The side entry door to my garage is coming apart. I was going to try and repair it, but the rot is extremely bad, and it is clear that it has been patched in various ways before. So looks like I am replacing it. It does have a wonky size--I think.... I did not want to remove the mold until I was sure that there was something available...but it looks like the opening is roughly 33 x 81, seems like that would fit a 30x80 door. (current size is 29x77); would that be a correct assumption?. How easy would it be to adjust the opening if needed? Any suggestions as to where to buy this type of door...certainly lots of options at Home Depot, Lowes etc. but are there other stores to consider? I guess I am thinking that buying a front door is too fancy for the garage, and I am just looking for the practical option. Any suggestions welcome. Just to be clear, I have never done this type of work before, but I assume it is pretty straightforward (?)

3-0 nominal means 3 ft 0 inches, or 36. 4-4 nominal means 4 ft 4 inches, or 52

Here is a picture of the inside framing..very basic Will start tearing the molding off. Any suggestions as to where to start shopping...go to the big stores or is this too specific?

Once you remove the trim and can tell us the actual size of the masonry opening (not a guess) we can better tell you if this will be a stock door or if it will need a custom size.
